How do you use benzos in fear of flying?
⚪ Clinical pearl: For a patient with a fear of flying who travels occasionally, a faster-acting benzodiazepine isn't a bad choice. Instruct the patient to "get ahead of their anxiety" by taking a dose so that the effect is in place when the plane takes off (if you do this, make sure they're taking a cab... and don't dose so that they get too zonked boarding...). Instruct on how to use additional doses if anxiety persists during the travel process.
